CHIEF ACCOUNTANT

 

Main purpose:

The Chief Accountant ensures that all accounting policies and procedures are followed. He/she is responsible for the day-to-day running of the department and all relevant accounting functions.

Reports to: Hotel Controller.

 

Main duties & responsibilities:

·        Excellent knowledge in general accounting as well as in receivables, payables, payroll, income audit, cashiering, stores, purchasing and cost control;

·        Assist HC with all accounting operations: P&L month-end process, balance sheet reconciliation, BS month-end process, CF month-end process, budgeting, forecasting, capex, etc.;

·        Implementation and maintenance of local accounting procedures as required by local and federal regulations and in accordance with Rocco Forte Policies & Procedures;

·        Perform financial analysis and reporting to Hotel Controller;

·        Perform month-end accounting activities such as reconciliations and journal entries;

·        Coordinate with finance team to complete assigned accounting tasks within deadlines;

·        Evaluate computerized accounting systems and provide recommendations to IT team for performance improvements;

·        Analyze financial discrepancies and recommend effective resolutions;

·        Monitor expenditures, analyze revenues, determine budget variances, and report the same to HC;

·        Respond to accounting queries in a time manner;

·        Provide guidance to other Accountants and Purchasing team when needed;

·        Assist in budget preparation and expense management activities for assigned accounts;

·        Assist in auditing activities by providing necessary information and preparing requested documentations;

·        Monitor and record financial transactions according to company policies and regulations;

·        Review and recommend changes to existing accounting procedures.

Other requirements:

·        Excellent command of Italian and English, both spoken and written;

·        Previous experience in the same role or junior position for at least 3 years;

·        Preferable degree in business administration or hotel management;

·        Preferable evidence of self-development through specialized courses, conferences/workshops;

·        Knowledge of Accounting Management software;

·        Knowledge of Microsoft Office package (Excel).

·        Preferred knowledge of Navision BC, Opera cloud, Online POs software.
